The Lynnette Omar Scholarship is an achievement-based grant awarded to graduating high school seniors. Recipients are recognized for their capacity to lead and their commitment to making a significant impact in their school and community. The scholarship is open to candidates who meet the following requirements:
- Classification: graduating senior at Carrboro High School.
- Ethnicity: Identify as African American/Black, Latino/Hispanic and/or Native American.
- Academic Excellence: maintain a current unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or better and completed at least two honors or AP courses with a C or better.
- Leadership: demonstrated experience through community involvement and/or other extracurricular activities.
- Proof of Admission: documentation showing proof of enrollment at a four-year accredited university/college.
The Selection Committee will evaluate all applications, and possibly interview applicants during the selection process. All candidates will learn about the results of the selection process in May 2022.
