Eligibility Criteria

The Lynnette Omar Scholarship is an achievement-based grant awarded to graduating high school seniors. Recipients are recognized for their capacity to lead and their commitment to making a significant impact in their school and community. The scholarship is open to candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Classification: graduating senior at Carrboro High School.
  • Ethnicity: Identify as African American/Black, Latino/Hispanic and/or Native American.
  • Academic Excellence: maintain a current unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or better and completed at least two honors or AP courses with a C or better.
  • Leadership: demonstrated experience through community involvement and/or other extracurricular activities.
  • Proof of Admission: documentation showing proof of enrollment at a four-year accredited university/college. 
 

Selection Process

The Selection Committee will evaluate all applications, and possibly interview applicants during the selection process. All candidates will learn about the results of the selection process in May 2022.
